南京古生物博物馆，隶属于中科院南京地质古生物研究所，由中国科学院和江苏省人民政府共建，是一个集展览、收藏、研究和教育为一体的现代化博物馆，是自然科学普及和教育的重要基地，具有科学性、知识性、观赏性和趣味性。

　　博物馆坐落于市中心的鸡鸣寺风景区，总建筑面积8500平方米， 其中展览区面积近4200平方米。馆内以古生物化石为本，以古无脊椎动物、古植物和微体古生物为主，是目前世界上最大的古生物专业博物馆之一。

　　展览讲述一个地球和生命演化历史的故事，内容包括一个主题展“生命进化史”和六个专题展以及一个临时特展厅，展品尤以“澄江动物群”和包括“中华龙鸟”在内的“热河生物群”化石标本最为珍贵，堪称国宝级的化石精品。

Nanjing Museum of Paleontology

Nanjing Museum of Paleontology (NMP) was founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the jiangsu Provincial Government in 2005. lt has a building area of 8000m' and an ex-hibition area of 4200 m .
